2016 C7 Corvette Z06 Earns AutoGuide Reader’s Choice Award

AutoGuide Reader's choice awardThe tail-end of 2016 heralds the beginning of several annual automobile awards ceremonies and programs, in which organizations recognize the past year’s models and their manufacturers for exhibiting excellence in the industry. One such award is the title of AutoGuide Reader’s Choice Sports Car of the Year, which for 2016 went to the C7 Corvette Z06.

The Z06 has the most down force of any vehicle in Chevrolet’s lineup and is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine that cranks out 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. With that kind of mind-blowing performance, the Corvette Z06 easily earned favor from AutoGuide.com’s readers, whose votes caused the iconic car to beat out competitors such as the Mazda MX-5 Miata, Audi TT, Ford Mustang Shelby GT350, and Dodge Viper ACR.

Some were surprised to see a more classic or “old-school” car take the top spot on the list, but having such a long history of excellence proves the Corvette has had time to be perfected over the years. Chevrolet took home one other AutoGuide Reader’s Choice Awards as well, in the category of Truck of the Year, which was won by the Chevy Colorado equipped with the new Duramax diesel engine option.
