Buffalo Gap’s Haunting History

The Buffalo Gap Historic Village is home to 15 outdoor structures from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Centered around the Old Taylor County Courthouse and Jail, Buffalo Gap includes a railroad depot, a two-room schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, and more.

As with any century-old building, many lives have come and gone in these aged relics. Learn about the faces who lived—and still dwell—in the Buffalo Gap buildings at the Buffalo Gap Ghost Tours this fall.

On October 15th, 22nd and 29th, starting at 8 p.m., just as the sky grows dark, visitors will gather at Buffalo Gap Historic Village to hear the haunted tales of the ghosts of Buffalo Gap. Tours cost $10 per person. Perhaps you will hear fearful tales of the outlaws that spent their nights in the Old Taylor County Jail, or witness an eerie presence left behind at the chapel. An old medical display is sure to call back the pain and torment associated with early medicine.

Perhaps the most infamous structure in the Buffalo Gap Ghost Tours is the Hill House, built by Marshal Tom Hill in 1982. There he lived with his wife and two children, and there they all died. It’s said that their spirits still remain there today. Come find out for yourself, if you dare…
