Details on the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox Diesel

The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox Diesel combines sharp styling with exceptional fuel economy. The popular family crossover features two available turbocharged gasoline engines that offer excellent efficiency, but neither hold a candle to the diesel powertrain. The Chevrolet Equinox Diesel is available now at Hanner Chevrolet.

As other automakers back away from diesel powertrains, Chevrolet is embracing them wholeheartedly. The available 1.6-liter turbo diesel four-cylinder engine arrives with an EPA-estimated 39 mpg highway.* That kind of efficiency puts it well ahead of top competitors, like the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. As though that high efficiency isn’t enough, the diesel powertrain offers 240 lb-ft of torque.

For comparison, the 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine earns up to an EPA-estimated 26 mpg city/32 mpg highway.* The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine earns slightly less.

Now that the Chevrolet Equinox is available with a trio of impressive engines, drivers have a choice to make. Those who want a gasoline engine with excellent fuel economy will likely go with the 1.5-liter four cylinder. Those who value towing capacity will be happy to know the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine offers a 3,500-pound maximum towing capacity when properly equipped.

The diesel engine, on the other hand, takes efficiency to a new level. Unlike many other diesel engines on the market, Chevrolet’s is surprisingly quiet, making it a great choice for families who love to travel.
