Expanding Your Options: Colorado Duramax Diesel Available Soon

GM must be doing something right when it comes to the truck segment. Soon after its debut in the midsize truck segment, the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado has become the fastest-selling truck on the market—and the popular truck can only go up from here. Now, the Colorado is set to become even more versatile as Chevy is making the Duramax Diesel available as an engine option.

The 2016 Colorado Duramax diesel will look similar to the 2015 model pictured, but offer the diesel engine.

What’s so special about the Duramax Turbo Diesel? This awesome engine features a “variable-geometry turbocharger for optimal power and efficiency across the rpm band.” Efficiency numbers have yet to be determined but Chevy expects them to be even better than the gasoline options, which already top the class.

The Colorado Duramax Diesel is powerful, producing 389 lb-ft of torque. Its trailering rating is 7,700 pounds for the FWD version and 7,600 for the 4WD version.

Those who might be worried that the Colorado’s frame and structure won’t incorporate the Duramax well should know that a diesel was always in the playbook. In a recent press release, assistant chief engineer Scott Yackley said: “A diesel engine was part of the Colorado’s portfolio plan from the very beginning, meaning the chassis, suspension and other elements of its architecture were engineered to support its capability.”

The Duramax Turbo Diesel is the cleanest diesel engine GM has ever made. Be sure to come see it for yourself once we get them in stock here at Hanner Chevy.
