Indy 500 Corvette Z06 Pace Car to be Driven By Jeff Gordon

No matter who wins the Indianapolis 500 this year, all participants will have to follow venerable NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon to the green flag in the Corvette Z06 pace car. The five-time winner at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the perfect selection to set the pace around the 2.5-mile track just as he has done countless times – but perhaps at a speedier pace – in the past.

“Indy is hallowed ground for racers like me and I couldn’t be more thrilled to drive the Corvette Z06 pace car around the track that helped drive my success over the years,” Jeff Gordon said.

The Corvette that Jeff Gordon will drive is the 13th Chevy Corvette Pace Car to govern the Indy 500 in its history, and it marks the 26th time a Chevrolet has taken the track in the “greatest spectacle in racing.” With Gordon behind its wheel, the Z06 will pace all 33 drivers with its 640 hp supercharged engine and track-capable suspension. The Arctic White paint job and Adrenaline Red interior of the pace car are available in Corvette Z06 production models; only the decals and strobes are added to the pace car variant.
