New ACU Stadium Lets Students and Fans Stay on Campus for Home Games

Abilene Christian University students and fans haven’t had the opportunity to watch their beloved home team play football on campus since 1958. That’s all about to change though, as construction finally wraps up on the new ACU stadium.

The new stadium will seat roughly 9,500 fans with space for about 12,000 people overall. The university is hopeful the new stadium will bring the student body together like never before. Until now, the homecoming game entailed leaving campus to cheer on the team, but the new stadium will let students, faculty, and fans experience their team in a whole new and exciting way.

Director of Athletics at ACU Lee De Leon says the new stadium—which cost $45 million to construct—sets a new “standard of excellence” for ACU. And there’s no doubting that the construction of the new stadium was perfectly timed, as ACU will officially enter into Division I competition this year.

Already, at least 2,250 season tickets have been sold. Seeing as only 100 season tickets were sold for the final season at the previous stadium, it’s safe to say that a lot of people are very excited to see their ACU team play a home game!

From all of us here at Hanner Chevrolet: congratulations to ACU on the new stadium.
