The Silverado Goes Medium Rare

What’s New About The Chevy Medium-Duty Trucks?

We’re getting more excited for the launch of new Chevy medium-duty trucks. Allison Transmission recently began production of parts that to include on the medium-duty truck line. Specially developed for the 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD, the new transmissions are just the start of what’s to come.

New Duramax V8 Engine

According to GM Authority, the medium-duty Silverado trucks will help meet the needs of drivers who want more power than they can normally find on models like the Silverado 2500 or 3500. With improved capabilities thanks to a tuned Duramax V8 engine and an Allison transmission, the new Chevy medium-duty trucks are bound to stand out.

Double Overdrive

“The 1000 and 2000 Series automatic gearboxes will include features such as power take-off (PTO), double overdrive, the company’s patented Continuous Power Technology and efficient FuelSense systems,” said Sean Szymkowski at GM Authority.

350 Horsepower

PTO will allow drivers to use auxiliary equipment, making it ideal for people using the new trucks for water pumps, towing, and such. You can also get motorhome and emergency vehicle transmission applications. The new Duramax engine will provide 350 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque, making it a capable towing machine.

Drivers should be able to get their hands on a model in the new year. Keep in touch with Hanner Chevrolet near Abilene, TX for word on when the trucks will arrive at our dealership.
